Jibacoa, a paradise for divers and snorkelers!

Jibacoa is located in the province of Mayabeque (the nearby Matanzas where the Varadero hotels are located). In 2010, Cuba has created two new provinces by dividing La Habana and Pinar del Rio. The hotels in Varadero as well as Jibacoa are both served by the same airport, Juan Gualberto Gómez. Click HERE to visit our website dedicated to all airports in Cuba.

It is important to mention that the Jibacoa hotels are not located on the Varadero peninsula, but 45-minute drive from the Varadero airport (one hour from Havana). If you are looking for a beautiful and long beach of fine white sand, it would be wiser to opt for the hotels in Varadero. The main attraction of Jibacoa is diving and the tranquility. Please be advised!

Jibacoa is a favorite spot for divers and snorkelers. Indeed, there is a huge coral reef just a few meters from the beach. It is therefore, possible to do snorkeling without having to take a boat or pay for an excursion. We discovered Jibacoa for the first time in June 2005 and since then, we are going back almost every year for a relaxing holiday, but mainly for the admiration of the marine world. This is our annual pilgrimage summer.

We visited many provinces of Cuba, and it is Jibacoa, we prefer to return to our snorkeling expeditions. It is even possible to do scuba diving directly from the beach. That shows how special this place is in Cuba! Holguin and Cayo Largo are also nice alternatives for those who love the marine world.
